As our direct contact with the land and Agriculture is lost or minimized , I believe we lose a sense of mutual benefit and satisfaction with each other and lose purpose for meaningful community relationships and beneficial social structures. I believe God meant for all of us to stay in contact with nature in our daily lives and farming is a natural way to do it. If you want a lesson in creation be with a cow or other critter when it gives birth and experience a miracle of creation happen in your presence! Ride a horse or walk with your dog through a wilderness area and feel the bond between yourself animal and nature which can't help but reinforce your assurance of a creator. When a Farmer provides a quality food product direct to his neighbors and gets appreciation and trust in return a similar bond occurs that is spiritual and can't be replaced by any factory or corporate tv commercial. These are reasons we still want to farm and want to support other hands on farmers. The same can be said for a Real Chef who prepares real food for his neighbors. It forms a bond that puts us in touch with reality and a chance to practice the Golden Rule!

Denise, I love your blog! You're right, "Church of the Organic Garden" had a similar theme. I was captivated by "No Spend September." What a blessing, thanks!
