My wife and I read that article on Sunday. We swore that we will buy our own beef and have it ground before our eyes from that point on. Our commitment to locally sustainable products grows stronger every day.

Yeah, after seeing the gelatinous box of ground beef that had been washed in Ammonia in the film, "Food Inc" I haven't been able to touch anything but local, grassfed beef. Thanks for sharing. And boy, is it worth the money to know what I'm eating!

Chris Wheeler

I know this may sound un-American, but we could probably do without red meat completely. Even ignoring the saturated fat issue, beef creates an inflammatory response in our immune system, and has been shown to increase the incidence of some types of cancer, especially colon cancer. There are plenty of sources of protein out there that are much more beneficial to our health (i.e. wild fish and soy). This doesn't even broach the subject of the environmental impact of beef on our planet.
